The effect of wet thermal environment on the impact resistance of carbon fiber materials

Carbon fiber epoxy composite material (CFRP) has many advantages such as low density, high strength, higher stiffness, resistance to fatigue, corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties, etc. It is widely used in the environment such as aviation navigation, such as the environment of poor structure, wet heat and impact and other environmental factors on the material increasingly appear. In recent years, scholars at home and abroad have carried out a large number of research on the effectof of wet and thermal environment on CFRP composite materials and the damage of impact on CFRP composite materials.

The study found that the effects of wet and hot environment on CFRP composites include: with the increase of wet heat treatment time, the bending performance, shear performance and static stretch performance of CFRP composites show a downward trend. According to research of Woldesenbet experts, the shock mechanical properties of composite materials have been improved after wet heat treatment. There are also related experiments on the CFRP laminate plate at different speeds, analysis of the wet and hot environment on the absorption performance of the laminate plate and its apparent characteristics of the change. It can be seen from the figure that more fast of impact, the carbon fiber laminated plate absorbs more energy during shock.
